PROJECT BANK
It is our hope that you will find the KMSA
Project Bank helpful when your county considers a
special fund raiser or activity.
There are three main sections in this project
bank:
Regardless of the type of project you select
keep these three essentials in mind:
Determine the focus and its
duration: If you've chosen a service
project, the main consideration may be the
number of volunteers you can count on to do the
project. In a fundraising project, remember that
the success of the project depends on the
membership understanding why they are raising
money and buying into the project.
Ensure medical society support:
Make sure that your project fits within the
guidelines established by your sponsoring
medical society
Publicize your event: use every
means at your disposal to get word out into the
community about what the Alliance is doing
You may obtain information about more than 500
award wining projects that have been done around
the United States from 1996-2000, by downloading
and/or ordering the AMA
Alliance Project Bank.
Another resource you may choose to download and
review is the AMA
Alliance SAVE Guide. No matter what aspect of
violence prevention your Alliance or community
group plans to focus on, this manual contains
information that can help in your quest to make
your community a safer place. It contains
statistics, general information about violence,
suggested prevention programs and ways to gain
community awareness.

Possible
Fund Raising/Grant Resources
Major fund raisers require major fund donors.
Attempt to get the project
underwritten by major corporations so that all
the money raised goes to charity or so that you can
do a more expansive service project. Whenever a
grant proposal is being initiated, the writer needs
to check carefully to be sure the source is funding
exactly what they are after. Also, every detail of
the requirements, listed by the funder, must be
met.
